Our take on the Joystone 1:16 RC Short Course Truck

The Joystone 1:16 RC Short Course Truck is a battery-powered hobby-grade truck sized for backyard and driveway running. It runs on a LiPo pack and measures about 11.4 x 5.9 x 4.5 inches, so it fits in a backpack and runs in small spaces. The best new price is $84.69 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no price spread to shop across. At that price it sits in budget 1:16 territory rather than the hobby-shop tier.

Best forFirst-time RC drivers and kids moving up from toy-grade carsBackyard, driveway and small-lot bashingBuyers who want a LiPo truck under $100Gifts for teens who want something faster than a toy
Pros
  • 1:16 scale is small enough for tight spaces and easy to store
  • LiPo battery gives more punch than NiMH toy-grade trucks
  • Short course body and stance handle rough ground better than a buggy
  • Under $100 at $84.69
  • Compact 11.4-inch footprint fits in a backpack
Cons
  • Only one store lists it new, so there is no price competition
  • Joystone is a small brand, so parts and support are harder to find than with Traxxas or Arrma
  • 1:16 scale limits it to smooth ground; tall grass will stop it
  • LiPo packs need proper charging and storage care
  • No listed spare-parts or upgrade ecosystem

Questions and answers

Is the Joystone 1:16 RC truck worth $84.69?
At $84.69 it is a reasonable entry point for a LiPo-powered 1:16 truck. If you want easy parts support and upgrades, a name brand costs more but is easier to keep running.
How fast does it go?
Joystone does not publish a top speed for this model, and none is listed here. Expect hobby-grade 1:16 speeds, which are quicker than toy-store cars but well below 1:10 brushless trucks.
What battery does it use, and how long does it run?
It uses a LiPo pack, but the listing does not state the capacity or run time. Buy a spare pack and a LiPo-safe charger if you plan long sessions.
Can it run on grass?
Short, dry lawn is fine. Tall or wet grass will bog down a 1:16 truck, so stick to pavement, dirt and short turf.
What comes in the box?
The listing does not detail box contents. Confirm with the seller whether a battery, charger and transmitter are included before buying.
When is the best time to buy?
With only one store listing it new at $84.69 as of November 4, 2026, there is no competing price to wait for. Watch for holiday sales at Walmart rather than expecting a price drop elsewhere.
Where is the Joystone 1:16 RC Short Course Truck cheapest?
At Walmart, for $84.69, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Joystone 1:16 RC Short Course Truck?
Rated 4 out of 5 from 62 ratings.
