Pros
  • 21 speeds with Shimano derailleurs give a wide gear range for hills
  • Front suspension softens bumps on rough paths
  • Steel frame and 265 lb load rating suit heavier or growing riders
  • Aluminum alloy rims are lighter and truer than steel
  • Low price for a geared, suspended bike
Cons
  • Steel frame is heavier than aluminum rivals
  • Basic coil fork and entry-level components limit real trail use
  • Ships unassembled; needs tools and tuning
  • 24-inch wheels and frame fit shorter riders only
  • Few reviews, so long-term durability is unproven

Questions and answers

Is the Ktaxon 24-inch mountain bike worth it?
At $139.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a cheap way to get a geared, front-suspension bike. Expect basic parts and some setup work; it suits light riding, not hard trails.
Who fits this bike?
Ktaxon lists it for riders 59 inches and taller, roughly ages 10 to 60, with a 265 lb max load. The 24-inch wheels and frame suit teens and shorter adults, not tall riders.
How many speeds does it have?
It has 21 speeds from a 3x7 Shimano drivetrain, with a triple chainring up front. That gives a wide range for hills and flat paths.
Does it come assembled?
No. Assembly is required, typically front wheel, handlebars, seat and pedals, plus brake and derailleur adjustment. A bike shop tune-up is worth the cost if you are not handy.
Is it good for real mountain trails?
It handles dirt paths, gravel and light trails. The steel frame, basic coil fork and entry-level components are not built for jumps or rough downhill riding.
When is it cheapest?
Only two stores list it new, so compare both. The current $139.99 at eBay is near the bottom of its recent range; watch for seasonal sales on budget bikes.
Where is the Ktaxon 24 inch Mountain Bike with Shimano 21 Speed cheapest?
