Questions and answers

Is this kit worth it for a total beginner?

Yes, if the goal is to start practicing with minimal spend. The guitar and amp together cost $89.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, which is less than most starter guitars alone. Expect to have it set up by someone experienced.

How does it compare with a Squier or Yamaha starter guitar?

Those cost more and generally have better hardware and resale value. The Ktaxon wins on price and includes an amp; the name brands win on build consistency and long-term playability.

What amp comes in the box?

A 20W corded electric amp with an 8.5-inch speaker. It is loud enough for bedroom practice but has limited controls compared with separate modeling amps.

Does it have 24 frets and a tremolo?

Yes. It has 24 frets on a 25.5-inch scale and a tremolo bridge, features usually found on more expensive guitars.

Is it right- or left-handed?

It is right-handed only. Left-handed players will need a different model.

When is the best time to buy it?

With only one store listing it at $89.99 as of November 4, 2026, there is little price movement to wait for. Watch for holiday sales at Walmart.

Where is the Ktaxon 39 Inch Electric Guitar Starter Kit with 20W Amp cheapest?

At Walmart, for $89.99, as of our latest check.
