Our take on the Ktaxon 39in Electric Guitar for Beginners with Starter Accessories

The Ktaxon 39in Electric Guitar is a budget S-style (Stratocaster-shaped) solid-body guitar aimed at beginners, with a 22-fret maple neck, engineered-wood fretboard and a lightweight paulownia body. It ships as a starter bundle, and one version is sold without an amp. At $59.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is priced at the very bottom of the beginner-guitar market, with only one store listing it new, so there is no price history to compare against.

Best forFirst-time players who want the lowest possible entry costParents buying a trial guitar for a childPlayers who already own an amp or practice through headphones or a computerA cheap platform for modding or a spare knockaround guitar
Pros
  • Very low price at $59.99
  • Lightweight paulownia body is comfortable for smaller players
  • Standard S-style shape, so most parts and pickguards fit
  • 22-fret maple neck with a familiar layout for learners
  • Starter bundle covers the basics beyond the guitar itself
Cons
  • Budget electronics and hardware are the weak point
  • Engineered-wood fretboard, not rosewood or maple
  • No amp in the 'Without AMP' version, despite the starter-bundle framing
  • Setup out of the box is often rough: action, intonation and fret ends
  • Only one store lists it new, so price comparison is thin

Questions and answers

Is the Ktaxon 39in Electric Guitar worth it for a beginner?
At $59.99 it is a low-risk way to see if a learner sticks with guitar. Budget for a $40 to $60 setup at a local shop, which matters more than the guitar's price for playability.
Does it come with an amplifier?
Not in the 'Without AMP' version, which is the configuration described here. Check the listing title carefully, since some Ktaxon bundles include a small amp and others do not.
How does it compare with a Squier or Yamaha starter guitar?
Those cost two to four times more but usually arrive better set up, with more reliable hardware. The Ktaxon wins on price; the name brands win on out-of-the-box playability and resale.
What size is it, and is it right for a child?
It is a full-size 39-inch guitar with a 22-fret neck, so it suits teens and adults best. Younger children may find a 3/4-size guitar easier to handle.
What accessories are included?
Starter bundles typically add a gig bag, strap, cable, picks and a tuner, but contents vary by listing. Confirm the exact items before buying.
When is the best time to buy it?
It is already at the entry-level floor at $59.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026. Watch for holiday bundles that add an amp or accessories for a similar price.
Where is the Ktaxon 39in Electric Guitar for Beginners with Starter Accessories cheapest?
At Walmart, for $59.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Ktaxon 39in Electric Guitar for Beginners with Starter Accessories?
2 stores we checked sell it, including Walmart, eBay.
