Is the Nord Electro 7 HP 73 worth $3,999?

It is the price of a weighted, gig-ready Nord with the Kawai hammer action. If you need piano feel in a light 73-key board and use its organ and synth engines, the price is defensible. If you mostly play piano at home, a cheaper weighted board does the same job.

How does the HP 73 differ from the 73-key semi-weighted Electro?

The HP 73 uses the triple-sensor Kawai Hammer Action Portable keybed, so it feels like a piano rather than an organ. The semi-weighted version is lighter to carry and faster for organ and synth parts but gives less piano resistance.

How heavy is it to carry to gigs?

It weighs 13 kg (28.66 lbs) and measures 42.1 x 13.4 x 5.1 inches. That is manageable for one person in a gig bag, but it is still a weighted board, so a wheeled case helps.

Does it have speakers or a built-in stand?

No. It is a stage keyboard, so you need an amp or PA and a stand. It does include MIDI over USB and the Pitch Stick and Modulation Wheel.

When is the best time to buy it?

As of November 4, 2026, the best new price is $3,999 at Amazon across 3 stores. Watch for holiday and back-to-school sales, when stage keyboards often see modest discounts.
