Is the RD-88 EX worth it over the original RD-88?

The EX updates the sound set and keeps the same PHA-4 action and light chassis. If you already own an RD-88, the upgrade is mainly about sounds and presets, not feel. Buyers without a stage piano get the same gig-friendly design.

Does it have speakers and can it run on batteries?

Yes, it has built-in speakers and can run on AA batteries as well as the AC adapter. That makes it usable for quick practice and outdoor gigs without power.

Can I use it as a MIDI controller and audio interface?

Yes. It sends USB MIDI and also acts as a USB audio interface, so one cable handles MIDI and audio to a computer or iPad. There is no Bluetooth.

What pedals are included?

One damper pedal is included. The pedal jacks support damper, FC1 and FC2 functions, but a triple-pedal unit is sold separately.

How heavy is it to carry?

It weighs 13.5 kg (about 30 lb) and measures 128.4 cm wide. That is light for an 88-key hammer-action piano, so one person can move it in a bag or case.
