Our take on the The Futon Shop Latex Organic Cotton Mattress Extra Firm

The Futon Shop's Latex Organic Cotton Mattress is an all-natural latex and organic cotton bed sold in firm and extra firm. The core is latex, the cover is USDA certified organic cotton grown in the US, and the mattress is machine tufted with 50 to 70 tufts depending on size. It is a niche, chemical-free build aimed at sleepers who want a hard surface and pressure relief without polyurethane foam. No current price was provided, so check the store pages for the latest figure and how it compares with the brand's other latex models.

Questions and answers

Is extra firm too hard for side sleepers?
Usually yes. Extra firm latex gives little shoulder and hip give, so side sleepers often do better on the firm version or with a soft topper.
Is it good for people with latex allergies?
Natural latex can still trigger reactions in people with latex allergy. Talk to a doctor before buying, since the core is latex throughout.
How does it compare with a memory foam mattress?
It is firmer, bounces back instead of sinking, and uses no polyurethane foam. Memory foam contours more but tends to sleep warmer and soften over time.
What sizes does it come in?
The listing shows Cal King (84 by 76 in) and Eastern King. Confirm other sizes with the store before ordering.
Does it need a box spring?
A firm, slatted or platform base is the usual support for a latex mattress. A flexible box spring can reduce the firm feel.
When is the best time to buy?
The Futon Shop runs sales around holidays and major shopping events. Compare the price against its recent range before buying.
