Our take on the The Futon Shop Natural Latex Mattress Topper 2" Dunlop Latex Topper Medium Firm

The Futon Shop Natural Latex Mattress Topper is a 2-inch Dunlop latex layer in medium-firm density, sold in Queen and other standard sizes. Dunlop latex is dense and springy, so it adds firm support and a little bounce rather than a soft pillow-top feel. It is a way to firm up a too-soft mattress or add natural latex to a bed without buying a new one. It is a niche, mail-order product with a small review base, so expect less feedback than mainstream toppers.

Best forFirming up a mattress that is too softShoppers who want natural latex instead of memory foamBack and stomach sleepers who want a supportive surfaceAdding life to an older mattress before replacing it
Pros
  • Dense Dunlop latex adds firm, resilient support
  • 2-inch profile is thick enough to change feel without a big height jump
  • Natural latex resists body impressions better than polyfoam
  • Breathable and cooler than memory foam for many sleepers
  • Can extend the life of a sagging or too-soft mattress
Cons
  • Medium firm is too firm for shoppers wanting plush cushioning
  • Heavy and awkward to move and rotate on a Queen bed
  • Latex allergies rule it out entirely
  • No cover or straps listed, so it can shift on smooth mattresses
  • Small review base makes it harder to judge long-term durability

Questions and answers

Is this topper worth it?
It makes sense if your mattress is too soft and you want natural latex support without replacing the bed. If you want a plush pillow-top feel, this medium-firm Dunlop layer is the wrong pick.
How firm is medium firm in Dunlop latex?
Dunlop latex is dense, so medium firm reads firmer than a medium-firm memory foam topper. Side sleepers may find it too firm; back and stomach sleepers usually like it.
Will it make my mattress softer or firmer?
Firmer. A 2-inch latex layer adds support and bounce, so it is best for softening the blow of an overly soft or worn mattress, not for adding plushness.
Does it come with a cover?
The listing describes a bare 2-inch latex topper in Queen with no cover or straps mentioned. Plan on a topper cover or a fitted sheet to hold it in place.
Is latex safe for allergy sufferers?
Natural latex can trigger reactions in people with a latex allergy, so avoid it if you are sensitive. Dunlop latex also has a rubbery smell when new that fades over time.
When is the best time to buy?
Latex toppers from small makers rarely get deep discounts; watch for site-wide sales and holiday promotions. Compare the Queen price across stores before buying.
What do buyers say about the The Futon Shop Natural Latex Mattress Topper 2" Dunlop Latex Topper Medium Firm?
Rated 4.1 out of 5 from 32 ratings.
