Is Old Wood a good base for weathered wood terrain?

Yes. It is an opaque matte brown that works as a base coat for fences, crates and planks, then takes washes and drybrushing for grain and wear.

Does it need thinning?

For miniature detail work, thin it slightly with water on a palette. For terrain and large areas it brushes on fine straight from the bottle.

Is it safe for plastic models?

It is a non-toxic water-based acrylic and is listed for white metal and resin. On bare polystyrene, prime first so the paint grips.

How long does it take to dry?

It dries fast, typically within minutes to the touch. Let it cure fully before heavy handling or varnishing.

Is 18ml enough for a whole army?

For small figures, yes; one bottle covers many miniatures. For large terrain boards, buy two or use a cheaper craft acrylic underneath.

The best new price found is $3.76 at eBay as of November 7, 2026. Model Color prices move little, so watch for multi-bottle bundles to lower the per-bottle cost.
