Is the YDP-184 worth it over the YDP-164?

The YDP-184 adds a taller cabinet, more powerful speakers and a richer feature set over the YDP-164, while both share the GH3 action and CFX sampling. If you mainly practice with headphones, the gap is smaller; for room-filling sound and a more furniture-like presence, the 184 is the stronger pick.

Does the YDP-184 have Bluetooth?

No. The YDP-184 does not include Bluetooth audio or MIDI, so connecting to apps requires a cable. If wireless connectivity matters, look at newer Arius or Clavinova models.

How many pedals does it have?

It has three pedals: damper, sostenuto and soft, with half-pedal support on the damper. That covers standard acoustic piano pedaling for classical pieces.

How big and heavy is it?

It measures about 1,461 mm wide, 927 mm tall and 459 mm deep, and weighs roughly 56 kg. Plan for two people to move it and measure your doorway and floor space before delivery.

The piano ships with its stand, three-pedal unit, power adapter and owner's manual. A bench is not included, so budget for one separately.

When is the YDP-184 cheapest?

Console digital pianos like this typically see discounts during holiday sales and when a successor model is announced. Watch price history around Black Friday and end-of-model clearance rather than expecting frequent drops.

Our take on the Yamaha YDP-184 Console Digital Piano

The Yamaha YDP-184 is a console digital piano with an 88-key GH3 graded hammer action, synthetic ebony and ivory keytops, and three pedals including half-pedal support. Its sound comes from Yamaha's CFX concert grand sampling with 256-note polyphony and 24 voices, and it stands 927 mm tall in a furniture-style cabinet weighing about 56 kg. It sits in Yamaha's Arius line below the Clavinova range, so it targets home players who want a real cabinet and graded action without Clavinova pricing.
