Our take on the Drolet Escape 1800 Wood Stove on Legs

The Drolet Escape 1800 is a freestanding EPA-certified wood stove on legs with a listed 75,000 BTU heat output and a factory blower. That output suits a large open living area or a whole-floor setup in a cold climate, and the blower helps push warm air out of a corner or against a wall. At $1,759 at Morealis as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of the four new prices tracked for it, so this is a favorable moment to buy.

Pros
  • 75,000 BTU output covers a big space
  • EPA certified for cleaner burns and legal installs in most areas
  • Blower included to move heat into the room
  • Legs give a classic look and easy access for cleaning underneath
  • Simple steel firebox with few electronics to fail
Cons
  • Heavy unit that needs a proper hearth and clearance planning
  • Blower adds a power draw and noise at high speed
  • Large firebox means larger loads of split wood
  • Requires a chimney and professional install cost on top of the price
  • Not a catalytic stove, so efficiency trails premium models

Questions and answers

Is the Drolet Escape 1800 worth it?
For a large room or open floor plan in a cold climate, yes. You get 75,000 BTU, EPA certification and a blower for $1,759 at Morealis as of November 4, 2026, which is the lowest of the four new prices tracked.
How much space will 75,000 BTU heat?
Expect it to handle a large open living area or a whole floor in a well-insulated home. In a drafty or poorly insulated space, real-world coverage will be smaller than the rating suggests.
Does it come with a blower?
Yes, the listed configuration includes a blower. That matters because many stoves in this class sell the blower as an add-on.
Is it EPA certified?
Yes. EPA certification means it meets current particulate limits, which most jurisdictions require for a new wood stove install.
What else do I need to budget for?
A chimney or flue liner, a hearth pad, clearances to combustibles and professional installation. Those costs often rival the stove price, so price them before you buy.
When is it cheapest?
Wood stoves tend to discount in spring and early summer, outside heating season. The current $1,759 at Morealis as of November 4, 2026 is already at the bottom of its recent range.
Where is the Drolet Escape 1800 Wood Stove on Legs cheapest?
At Morealis, for $1,759.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Drolet Escape 1800 Wood Stove on Legs?

Where can I buy the Drolet Escape 1800 Wood Stove on Legs?
