Our take on the Duckett Fishing Torch Casting Rod

The Duckett Fishing Torch is a 6'10" one-piece graphite casting rod built for bass fishing with baits from 1/2 to 2 oz. It pairs a heavy, medium-heavy power rating with a fast action and Duckett's Sensi-Touch blank, so it works for jigs, Texas rigs and heavier plastics. Split EVA and rubberized cork grips keep the weight at about 454 g. At $99 at Anglers Choice Marine Tackle Shop as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with three stores listing it new.

Cons
  • One-piece 6'10" blank is awkward to transport

Questions and answers

Is the Duckett Torch casting rod worth $99?
At $99 at Anglers Choice Marine Tackle Shop as of November 4, 2026, it is a reasonable buy for a graphite bass casting rod with a fast action. It is a good fit if you throw jigs and heavier plastics, less so for finesse fishing.
What lures and line does it handle?
It is rated for 1/2 to 2 oz lures and 10-17 lb line, with a listed fish weight of 12-25 lbs. That covers jigs, Texas rigs, chatterbaits and heavier soft plastics.
Is it a one-piece rod?
Yes, it is a one-piece 6'10" rod. That gives a clean action but makes it harder to fit in a car or carry on a trip.
Can I use it for saltwater?
No. Duckett lists it as a freshwater rod, so saltwater use will shorten its life.
Does it work with a spinning reel?
No. It is a casting rod, so pair it with a baitcasting reel.
When is it cheapest?
The current $99 at Anglers Choice Marine Tackle Shop as of November 4, 2026 is at the low end of its recent range. Watch for seasonal bass-tackle sales for further drops.
