Our take on the Kawai CN201 Digital Piano with Matching Bench

The Kawai CN201 is a mid-range digital piano with 88 weighted keys, the Responsive Hammer III action, and Kawai's Harmonic Imaging sound engine sampled from the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand. It adds an OLED display, Bluetooth MIDI and audio, USB, three pedals with half-pedal support, and a matching bench in a light oak cabinet. At $1,999 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment.

Best forPlayers moving up from a beginner keyboard who want a realistic actionApartment dwellers who need headphone practice and adjustable volumeFamilies buying one piano for lessons and daily playingAnyone who wants a furniture-style cabinet with a matching bench included
Pros
  • Responsive Hammer III action with triple sensor and let-off simulation feels close to an acoustic upright
  • SK-EX grand piano samples with good dynamic range and resonance modeling
  • Bluetooth MIDI and audio plus USB make it easy to use with apps and recording software
  • OLED display and clear control layout are simple to navigate
  • Three pedals including half-pedal support, and a matching bench is included
  • Light oak finish is less common than black or rosewood
Cons
  • At $1,999 it is near the top of its recent price range, not a deal
  • Onboard speakers are modest for a cabinet piano; a separate amp helps for room-filling sound
  • No built-in lesson course or extensive rhythm section compared with some rivals
  • Heavier cabinet than a slab piano, so it is not easy to move alone

Questions and answers

Is the Kawai CN201 worth $1,999?
It is a solid mid-range piano with a strong action and good piano tone, and $1,999 at eBay as of November 3, 2026 is a fair but not discounted price. If you want the best value, watch for sales below this level.
How does the CN201 compare with the CN29 or CN301?
The CN201 replaces the CN29 and adds Bluetooth audio and an OLED display. The CN301 steps up to a taller cabinet, better speakers, and a more advanced action, so choose it if room sound matters.
Does the CN201 have Bluetooth?
Yes. It supports Bluetooth MIDI and Bluetooth audio, so you can connect to piano apps and stream music through the speakers. USB is also available for a wired computer connection.
What is included in the box?
You get the piano in its cabinet, the matching bench, a power supply, and the three-pedal unit built into the stand. A dust cover and headphones are not included.
Is the CN201 good for beginners?
Yes, if the budget allows. The weighted 88-key action builds good habits, and the metronome, split mode, and recording help with practice. Beginners on a tight budget can start lower and upgrade later.
When is the CN201 cheapest?
Kawai prices tend to dip during holiday sales and at the end of model cycles. At $1,999 as of November 3, 2026 it is at the high end of its recent range, so waiting for a promotion is reasonable.
Where is the Kawai CN201 Digital Piano with Matching Bench cheapest?
