Our take on the Nord Stage 4 88-Key Keyboard

The Nord Stage 4 88 is a professional stage piano combining a triple-sensor hammer-action keybed with three sound engines: acoustic and electric pianos, a modeled tonewheel organ, and a virtual analog synth. Its 88 weighted keys, three included pedals and four assignable outputs make it a gigging instrument built for players who need piano, organ and synth in one board. At $4,099 at musicstore.com as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range — this is a premium instrument that rarely discounts deeply.

Best forWorking stage and session keyboardists who need piano, organ and synth in one boPiano players who want a weighted, triple-sensor action for expressive dynamicsPlayers who run multiple amps or a house PA and need assignable outputsTouring musicians who want a self-contained rig with pedals included
Pros
  • Triple-sensor hammer action gives fast, repeatable response and three touch curves
  • Three sound engines (piano, organ, synth) cover most gigs without a second keyboard
  • Three pedals included and supported through the Triple Pedal input
  • Four assignable audio outputs allow separate routing for layered sounds
  • Built-in rotary speaker modeling for organ sounds
  • Full-size weighted keys with a solid, road-ready build
Cons
  • No built-in speakers, so you always need an amp or PA
  • 19.6 kg (about 43 lb) is heavy for one person to carry regularly
  • 46-voice synth polyphony is modest for dense layered patches
  • Premium price with little discounting; $4,099 is near the top of its range
  • Organ and synth depth takes time to learn compared with a simple stage piano

Questions and answers

Is the Nord Stage 4 88 worth $4,099?
For a gigging player who needs weighted keys plus piano, organ and synth in one board, yes — it replaces several instruments. If you mostly play piano at home, a cheaper stage piano or a keyboard with built-in speakers will do the job.
How does it compare with the Nord Stage 3 88?
The Stage 4 adds a triple-sensor keybed, a redesigned effects section and a more capable synth engine. If you already own a Stage 3 and are happy with its action, the upgrade is less compelling than for first-time buyers.
Does it have built-in speakers?
No. You need an amp, PA or headphones. There is a stereo headphone output and four assignable line outputs.
How heavy is it to move?
It weighs 19.6 kg (about 43 lb) and measures 1282 mm wide. That is a two-person or cart job for regular gigging; a softcase is the listed cover type.
What is in the box?
The keyboard, three pedals (sustain and foot switch functions) and a Nord softcase. Check with the store for the exact bundle before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
Nords rarely get deep discounts, so the best price usually comes from comparing the five stores listing it rather than waiting for seasonal sales. At $4,099 at musicstore.com as of November 3, 2026, it is near the top of its recent range.
Where is the Nord Stage 4 88-Key Keyboard cheapest?
At musicstore.com, for $4,099.00, 32% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Nord Stage 4 88-Key Keyboard?
