Our take on the Lantine 70.87-Inch Long Executive Desk, Oak

The Lantine 70.87-Inch Long Executive Desk is a wide, oak-finished MDF desk built for a home office or a shared workspace. At nearly six feet long, it gives you room for a monitor, laptop and paperwork side by side, but it has no drawers, shelves or cable management. The oak finish is a printed or laminated veneer over MDF, so it looks the part from a distance but is not solid wood. It is a budget executive-style desk rather than a heirloom piece.

Best forHome office users who want a wide, single-surface deskTwo-person or dual-monitor setupsBuyers who prefer a clean, drawer-free lookRenters who want an executive look without solid-wood cost
Pros
  • 70.87-inch width fits dual monitors plus open workspace
  • Oak finish gives a warmer look than plain black or white MDF
  • No drawers means a simple, uncluttered silhouette
  • Flat top is easy to wipe clean
  • Tools included for assembly
Cons
  • MDF with a printed or laminated finish, not solid oak
  • No storage: no drawers, shelves or hutch
  • No cable management or grommets
  • Long unsupported span can flex if the frame is thin
  • Adult assembly required, and a six-foot top is awkward to build alone

Questions and answers

Is this desk solid oak?
No. The surface is MDF with an oak-look finish. It is not solid oak wood, so expect a veneer or laminate feel rather than grain you can sand and refinish.
Does it have any drawers or storage?
No. The desk is a single flat surface with no drawers, shelves or hutch. Plan on a separate filing cabinet or monitor stand for storage.
How much space does a 70.87-inch desk need?
The top alone is about 5 feet 11 inches wide, so allow at least 6 feet of wall space plus a few inches of clearance. Check the listed depth before buying, since a deep top pushes your chair further into the room.
Is assembly difficult?
Tools are included and the design is straightforward, but a top this long is hard to handle alone. Two people make attaching the legs or frame much easier and reduce the risk of cracking the MDF.
Will it hold two monitors?
Yes. At nearly six feet wide there is room for two monitors plus a laptop. Keep the weight spread across the frame rather than clustered in the middle, where a long MDF span can sag.
When is the best time to buy it?
Desks like this usually drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales, and clearance pricing appears when a finish is discontinued. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
