Is the Peavey HP 2 Poplar Burl worth $2,499.99?

That depends on how much you value the burl top and Floyd Rose. At $2,499.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits in the range of US-made and high-end import guitars, so try one first and compare specs against those rivals.

How does it differ from the standard HP 2?

The RM adds a poplar burl top over the basswood body and comes in transparent blue, natural and transparent black finishes. The core build is the same: roasted maple bolt-on neck, dual humbuckers, push-pull splits and a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo.

Does it stay in tune with heavy tremolo use?

The double-locking Floyd Rose design clamps strings at the nut and bridge, which helps tuning stability during dive-bombs and flutter. You still need to stretch strings and set the bridge balance properly for it to hold.

Can I get single-coil sounds from it?

Yes. The push-pull knobs split the custom-wound humbuckers into single-coil mode, giving brighter, thinner tones alongside the full humbucker voice.

What is included with the guitar?

Peavey's page lists the guitar and its hardware features but does not detail case, gig bag or tools. Confirm what the seller includes before ordering, since a tremolo arm and Allen keys are needed for setup.

When is the best time to buy it?

Only three stores list it new, so discounts are likely tied to retailer sales rather than broad competition. Watch the price history and buy when a listing drops below the current $2,499.99.

Our take on the Peavey HP 2 Poplar Burl RM

The Peavey HP 2 Poplar Burl RM is a US-style bolt-on electric with a basswood body capped in poplar burl, a roasted maple neck and a licensed Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo. It carries two custom-wound Peavey humbuckers with push-pull coil splits, Schaller tuners and a 25.5-inch scale with 22 jumbo frets. The best new price is $2,499.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, with three stores listing it new. That is a premium ask for a bolt-on import-style build, so compare it against other Floyd-equipped guitars before committing.
