Our take on the PEXCHO 52cc 2-Stroke Gas Chainsaw 20"

The PEXCHO 52cc is a gas-powered chainsaw with a 20-inch straight bar, a 2.6 hp two-stroke engine and an anti-vibration system. It is aimed at homeowners and light farm or firewood work rather than professional logging. The 20-inch bar gives it reach for felling medium trees and bucking larger logs. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.

Questions and answers

Is a 52cc saw enough for a 20-inch bar?
Yes. 52 cc is a common match for a 20-inch bar in this class, and 2.6 hp is enough for bucking firewood and felling medium trees. It will feel slow in hard, dry hardwood.
What fuel mix does it need?
Two-stroke engines of this size typically run on a 40:1 to 50:1 gasoline-to-two-stroke-oil mix. Confirm the ratio in the manual before the first tank, since running straight gas will seize the engine.
Is it too heavy for occasional use?
A gas saw of this size usually weighs around 12 to 14 pounds with bar and chain, more than most battery saws. The anti-vibration system helps, but long sessions will tire your arms.
Does the anti-vibration system matter?
Yes. It isolates the handles from engine vibration, which reduces hand numbness and fatigue during longer cutting. It is one of the features that separates this from the cheapest gas saws.
What comes in the box?
Typically the powerhead, bar, chain, bar cover and a tool kit for assembly and chain tensioning. Fuel and oil are not included.
When is it cheapest?
Gas chainsaws of this type tend to drop in price in late fall and winter, outside storm and firewood season. Check the price history before buying.
