Is this kit legal for street driving?

Philips lists it for show and off-road use. HID bulbs in halogen housings are not DOT-compliant in the US and can fail inspection. Check your state rules before installing.

Do I need the relay harness?

Not always, but it helps. The optional relay/anti-flicker harness stabilizes voltage and prevents flicker or bulb-out warnings on cars with sensitive CAN-bus systems.

Only if your car uses 9005 bulbs. The kit includes two 9005 HID bulbs and two ballasts; confirm the bulb type in your owner's manual or on the old bulb.

How bright is 6,000K?

6,000K is a cool white with a slight blue tint. It is not the brightest output; lower Kelvin gives more usable light, higher Kelvin looks bluer and dimmer.

Two 9005 HID bulbs and two slim 35W DC ballasts. The relay/anti-flicker harness is an optional upgrade and is not included.

Our take on the Philips Xenon HID Conversion Kit 9005

The Philips Xenon HID Conversion Kit 9005 swaps 9005 halogen bulbs for 35W HID xenon bulbs with two slim DC ballasts. Philips claims 5x the brightness of factory halogen and over 2.5x the bulb life without fading, with a 6,000K color temperature and five color options. It is sold for show and off-road use, not for legal on-road headlight use in the US. No current price was provided, so check the price history before buying.
