Our take on the Silver Ticket Diagonal 2.35:1 Anamorphic 4K / 8K Ultra HD & HDR Ready Projector Screen

The Silver Ticket Diagonal 2.35:1 is a fixed-frame projector screen sized for widescreen cinema content: about 118 inches wide and 50 inches tall, with a 1.0-gain grey surface and an aluminum black frame. It is built for 4K and 8K projectors and for rooms where the screen stays on one wall. The grey surface trades a little brightness for better black levels in rooms that are not fully dark.

Pros
  • True 2.35:1 ratio fills the frame with scope movies, no letterbox bars
  • Grey 1.0-gain surface deepens blacks versus matte white
  • 160° half-gain viewing cone keeps off-axis seats usable
  • Flame resistant, mildew resistant and washable with mild detergent
  • Aluminum frame is light for its size at 33 lbs
Cons
  • Fixed frame: no pull-down, no portability
  • Grey surface dims the image slightly compared with white
  • No black backing, so light behind the screen can bleed through
  • 16:9 TV and games will show side bars on this ratio

Questions and answers

Is a grey screen better than white for this projector screen?
Grey helps in rooms that are not fully dark because it improves perceived black level and contrast. In a light-controlled theater, a white screen gives a brighter image. At 1.0 gain, this one is a middle-ground choice.
Will a 2.35:1 screen work with a 16:9 projector?
Yes, but 16:9 content will show black bars on the sides unless you use a lens or zoom memory. The screen is aimed at scope films, which fill the full 117.6-inch width.
How big is the viewing area?
The viewing area is about 117.6 inches wide by 50 inches tall, a 127.75-inch diagonal. The frame adds roughly 2.4 inches on each side and 4.75 inches in total height.
Does it come with mounting hardware?
Silver Ticket fixed-frame kits typically include the aluminum frame pieces, screen material and wall-mount brackets. Check the box contents for your listing, since bundles vary.
Can it be cleaned?
Yes. The surface is washable with mild detergent, and it is treated to resist mildew and flame. Avoid abrasive cleaners and heavy scrubbing.
