Is this futon good for side sleepers?

It is firm, which most side sleepers find too hard on the shoulder and hip. Back and stomach sleepers tend to be happier with it.

Do I need a tatami mat under it?

The Futon Shop recommends a traditional tatami mat for support and a firmer feel. A slatted bed base also works and lets the cotton breathe.

How often should I air it out?

Air it in sunlight and rotate or flip it regularly to keep the cotton from packing down. This also helps control moisture.

What sizes does it come in?

It runs up to Eastern King at 76 in wide, with fill weight from 35 to 75 lbs depending on size. Check the size chart before ordering.

Is it really organic?

The cotton is USDA certified organic, and the cover is organic cotton fabric. The core is Dunlop latex.

Is $449.98 a good price?

Only The Futon Shop lists it new at $449.98 as of November 7, 2026, so there is no competing price to beat. Compare it against other organic shikibutons before deciding.
