Is $429.99 a good price for the SelectTech 552 pair?

It is the only new price seen since November 3, 2026, at $429.99 at playitagainsports.com. That is in line with the usual street price for the pair, so there is no cheaper recent price to wait for.

How much weight does each dumbbell hold?

Each dumbbell adjusts from 5 to 52.5 lb. Steps are 2.5 lb up to 25 lb and 5 lb above that.

No, but a stand keeps the dumbbells at waist height and makes switching easier. It is usually sold separately.

Can I drop these on the floor after a set?

No. The plates and plastic housing can crack, so set them down gently in the cradle.

How do they compare with the SelectTech 1090?

The 1090 goes up to 90 lb per hand but costs much more and is bulkier. The 552 suits most home lifters; choose the 1090 only if you press or row heavy.

You get the pair of dumbbells and the plate cradles. A stand and workout guide are not included unless a listing says so.
