Our take on the Malibu Home Galveston 72" Bathtub

The Galveston is a 72-inch drop-in acrylic bathtub with built-in jets, sized for two-person soaking in a large bathroom. Acrylic keeps the tub lighter than cast iron or stone and holds water temperature reasonably well. At $1,655.78 at Malibu Home as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with two stores listing it new.

Best forLarge master bathroomsTwo-person soakingBuyers who want jetted relaxation without a full whirlpool remodelDrop-in installations over an existing deck or frame
Pros
  • 72-inch length gives room to stretch out or share
  • Acrylic is lighter and easier to move than cast iron
  • Jets add massage function at a lower price than many jetted tubs
  • Drop-in design simplifies installation on a built deck
Cons
  • Drop-in only, so it needs a surround or deck to sit in
  • Acrylic can scratch and dull without careful cleaning
  • Jetted models need the pump and plumbing serviced over time
  • Large footprint needs a bathroom with real floor space

Questions and answers

Is $1,655.78 a good price for the Galveston 72-inch tub?
It is the lowest new price among the two stores listing it as of November 6, 2026, and sits at the bottom of its recent range. Waiting is unlikely to save much unless a seasonal sale appears.
Does this tub come with a faucet or drain?
No. Drop-in tubs like this are typically sold as the shell and jet system only, so plan on buying a filler, drain and overflow separately.
Can the Galveston be installed in an alcove?
It is a drop-in model, so it needs a deck or surround built around it rather than alcove walls alone. Confirm the rough opening and deck height with your installer first.
How does a jetted acrylic tub compare with a soaking tub?
Jets add massage and usually cost more, plus a pump to maintain. A plain soaking tub is cheaper and simpler, but gives up the massage function.
What size bathroom does a 72-inch tub need?
Plan for a deck that extends beyond the 72-inch rim plus clearance for the surround and door swing. Measure the rough opening before ordering.
Where is the Malibu Home Galveston 72" Bathtub cheapest?
At Malibu Home, for $1,655.78, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Malibu Home Galveston 72" Bathtub?
2 stores we checked sell it, including Malibu Home, Wayfair.
