Our take on the Touchstone Sideline Elite Smart Electric Fireplace with Surround Mantel

The Touchstone Sideline Elite is a wall-mounted electric fireplace that comes with a white surround mantel, so it can be installed against a flat wall without building a hearth or chimney. It produces up to 5,100 BTU (1,500W) and has a built-in thermostat, and it connects to Wi-Fi for app and voice control of flame and heat. The best new price is $1,199.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new.

Best forRenters and homeowners who want a fireplace without venting or gas linesLiving rooms and bedrooms where a mantel is wanted for decorBuyers who want app or voice control of flame and heatSupplemental heat for a single room up to roughly 400 square feet
Pros
  • No chimney, vent or gas line needed; plugs into a standard outlet
  • White surround mantel included, so no separate mantel build
  • Wi-Fi control through the app and voice assistants
  • Thermostat lets it cycle heat to hold a set temperature
  • Flame color and brightness options work with or without heat
Cons
  • 1,500W is supplemental heat, not a whole-home or primary furnace
  • Electric flames are an effect, not a real fire
  • White mantel finish limits room styles compared with wood tones
  • Wall mounting and the surround add installation work over a plug-in unit

Questions and answers

Is the Touchstone Sideline Elite worth it over a cheaper electric fireplace?
You pay for the included mantel, Wi-Fi control and thermostat, which budget plug-in units usually lack. If you only want flames and a space heater, a basic model costs less. If you want a finished built-in look without construction, this one covers it.
How much space does 5,100 BTU heat?
About 400 square feet in a well-insulated room, which is typical for a 1,500W electric fireplace. It works as supplemental heat, not as a replacement for central heating.
Does it need venting or a gas line?
No. It runs on a standard electrical outlet and needs no chimney, vent or gas connection. That makes it usable in apartments and rooms without an existing fireplace.
Can I use the flames without heat?
Yes. The flame effect runs independently of the heater, so you can keep the look on in warm months. Heat and flame are controlled separately in the app and on the unit.
What comes in the box?
The fireplace insert, the white surround mantel, a remote and mounting hardware. Check the listing for the exact included accessories before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price is $1,199.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026. Electric fireplaces often drop during fall and winter sales events, so compare across both stores before buying.
Where is the Touchstone Sideline Elite Smart Electric Fireplace with Surround Mantel cheapest?
