Is the Player II Precision worth it over a Squier?

If you play regularly and want better hardware and finish, yes. A Squier Classic Vibe or Affinity costs much less and gets you close on tone, so try both if budget is tight.

How is it different from the older Player Precision?

The Player II keeps the alder body, 34-inch scale and split single-coil but updates the neck feel and adds new finishes. The core sound is essentially the same.

Is the neck too wide for small hands?

The 1.625-inch nut is wider than a Jazz Bass neck, which some players find slow at first. It suits players who like to anchor their thumb and dig in.

What comes in the box?

The bass itself, usually with a truss rod wrench and no gig bag. Check the listing, since some sellers bundle a bag or strap.

Prices tend to dip during holiday sales and when a new color or model year lands. The $749.99 eBay price as of November 4, 2026 is already near the bottom of its recent range.

Our take on the Fender Player II Precision

The Fender Player II Precision is the current Mexican-made P-Bass: alder body, 34-inch scale, 1.625-inch synthetic bone nut and a split single-coil pickup in the classic Precision layout. It is the default working bass for players who want the familiar P-Bass neck and thump without paying American Professional prices. At $749.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what the six stores listing it new are charging.
