Is the Marshall worth it over a cheaper electric fireplace?

At $525 it costs more than basic inserts, but you get a finished mantel-style cabinet, remote, thermostat and safety shut-off in one unit. If you only need flames, a cheaper insert saves money.

How much space does 5,100 BTUs heat?

Roughly 400 to 500 square feet in a well-insulated room. Treat it as supplemental heat for one room, not a furnace replacement.

Can I use the flames without the heater?

Yes. The flame effect runs on its own, so you can keep the look going in summer without adding heat.

Does it need venting or a gas line?

No. It is ventless and plugs into a standard outlet, so it can go against any indoor wall near power.

What comes in the box?

The fireplace unit, remote control and the hardware needed for assembly. Assembly is required.

Electric fireplaces tend to discount in late fall and around Black Friday. The current $525 at Home Depot is already near the low end of its recent range.
