Is the Lucid 6 inch mattress firm or soft?

It is medium firm. The single inch of gel memory foam softens the surface slightly, but the 5-inch base foam keeps it supportive, which suits back and stomach sleepers.

Is 6 inches thick enough for an adult?

It works for lighter adults and occasional use, but most adults over about 200 pounds will want at least 8 inches for pressure relief and durability.

How long does it take to expand?

Allow 24 to 48 hours. Expansion is faster in a warm room, and the mattress may stay slightly short of full size until it finishes.

What sizes and heights does it come in?

Lucid sells this line in twin through queen and in 6-, 8- and 10-inch heights. The 6-inch version is the one meant for bunks, trundles and RV beds.

Does it work on a bunk bed or trundle?

Yes. The 6-inch height leaves room for rails and fits most trundle and bunk frames, and it works on platform beds and box springs too.

Our take on the Lucid 6 Inch Memory Foam Mattress

What reviewers say

Owners generally treat this as a budget pick for bunks, trundles and guest beds rather than a primary mattress. Most say it is firmer than expected and takes a day or two to puff up, but holds up well for kids and light use.

Pros

Good value for the price
Fits low-clearance bunk and trundle frames
Firm support that suits back sleepers
Expands close to full size after a day or two

Cons

Firmer than many expect from memory foam
Too thin for heavier adults to feel cushioned
Some report lingering foam smell at first
